A Special Gift for Dad (thanks to the HP Activity Center)

Angela's European Gift Calendar - Tag Team Web 1.9
I like the thought of making someone smile with a unique gift.

My dad is a two-time cancer survivor. One of his lifelong passions is studying history, and one of his lifelong dreams is to see Europe. We decided it was time to go -- together -- and enjoy some special time as father and daughter.

After spending the past year planning and anticipating the trip, we finally galavanted around Western Europe for the first 2 weeks of October 2007.

I wanted to give him some very special keepsakes that would remind him of our time together. This is the first gift: A customized, monthly calendar that showcases my favorite photos from our European vacation. (I like that this is something he can use throughout the coming year.)

I used a free HP Activity Center Calendar Template. (The Activity Center offers more than 20 different calendars, so the toughest part of this project was deciding which template to use. )

Once I settled on one, I simply selected a page style for each month, then I uploaded my photos (you
can even crop your photos while they're in the calendar template!), then I chose an overlay (on some pages I decided not to include an overlay) and then saved each month's Adobe PDF file to a folder on my computer.

This weekend, I'll print all 12 months and the front and back covers on HP Premium Photo Paper. Then I'll add hole punches and tie all the pages together with some gorgeous chianti-colored ribbon.

The next gift: I'll make a professional HP Photo Book that my dad can proudly display for years to come.

This calendar to the left only requires one photo. I selected the template, uploaded the photo, gave the calendar a title, and I was hitting "Print" in less than 10 minutes.
