DIY Shrinky Dink ID BadgeThis is an ID Badge that my daughter created for her Father out of Shrinky Dink printer paper. Its really cute and she is very proud of it. This badge was created from one entire sheet of the Shrinky Dink paper.

Stars DecorationI hung these cute little stars from the front porch light. A little spark of color is just what that area needed to let our visitors know we are ready to party! It was a quick and easy project. View project
Gift Wrap PaperMy daughters recently exchanged small birthday gifts. I always involve them in wrapping as much as possible. Thanks to the HP Activity Center I was able to let them be even more involved. I simply went to the gift wrap section and gave each girl some options of which papers would be appropriate. There were even matching gift cards. This was fun and easy for us all. My 4 & 7 year old girls really liked this project.

Family TreeThis family project for my daughters second grade class was photo optional. As far as Tyla and I were concerned it was a photo must! We searched our trunk of photos for all of the photos we needed. These photos I simply scanned and printed onto glossy brochure paper and cut to size. It was a snap. We used Zig Zag scissors to cut out the photos for a decorative touch.
Kung Fu Panda Shrinkable Backpack TagsThis was a really fun project to do. I had never done shrinky dinks before so I was just as fascinated as my girls were to watch these shrink up in the oven. We made back pack tags and are going to string the very small ones with some beads for a necklace. I made one for myself with my phone numbers on it to put on my key chain just in case I lose it. Just be careful, the size of my shrinky dink paper was not a standard letter size so part of the print got chopped off. I made it work though. View project
Father's Day Photo CardFather's day is almost here and I wanted to give my husband something special from me and the girls. I know he will love this card. I found this project at the HP Activity Center. It was truly the easiest card I ever created and it printed great the first time. The picture is of my girls and me viewing the Rose Parade floats the day after the parade in Pasadena, CA. » Create your own Father's Day photo card
Family Photo PosterI made a large poster using all of my favorite photos from last year. It was really easy to do. Check out my project
"All About Me" BooksMy daughters and I decided to create All About Me baby books from HP's Activity Center. It was a wonderful project and the girls loved making them.Take a look at how I did it.
Valentine CardsYes, we have completed Valentines cards for Tyla's classroom and for favorite teachers and staff. HP Activity Center had many nice choices for cards. I did a quick draft of the artwork for each card option and let Tyla choose her favorites. We made the finger puppet cards for her classmates and the Victorian postcards for the teachers and staff. On these we used zig zag scissors for a decorative edge. To make it extra special, we put fun little erasers in each envelope. We really enjoyed making homemade valentines cards last year. It was very time consuming though. Using HP's Activity Center was much quicker and easier, and we were still able to have homemade cards. Yeah for the Activity Center and me. Tyla enjoyed this project so much she kept telling me while she was writing on the cards,"I love you Mom". That tells me loud and clear how much these simple projects positively affect my relationship with her.
Tyla and Alana last Valentines Day | Photo CalendarI finally got to do the calendar project I have been wanting to do for so long. It was definitely an A+ project.I chose the seasonal theme, and wanted to have the photos be a year in review of 2007. It took me about an hour, and it was fun to do. It has inspired me to keep my photos organized by months for future projects because I am definitely doing this one again and again. The calendar is such a nice quality. I used heavy paper with the photo side having a light gloss. It turned out exactly as I put it together. I am amazed at the finished product. I can't believe I made it. I feel really proud of myself. I cant wait to give this gift. I highly recommend this project.
Tyla made the rainbow and duckyand Alana made the star, all by themselves. I made the ladybug. | Perler BeadsFor Christmas my daughters got something called "perler beads" from Santa. Wow! Fun, cheap, quick, easy and beautiful. It is the best arts and crafts project that I have ever done with my 3 and 6 year olds. It keeps them involved and focused for at least an hour, and with such lovely results. I am sure we are going to get quite a collection of these. I wonder what we could do with them? Maybe a mosaic. |
