Photo Magnets

Photo Magnetsby Laura Brunow Miner, Design Director at JPG Magazine

Attention! I'm about to give you a perfect gift idea for any member of the family.

Photo magnets. Bear with me—this idea has gotten me off the hook on many a birthday and mother's day. I have a set of flower images, all taken of flowers from above, from my days working at a greenhouse. I printed 12 of them out, attached them to adhesive magnet sheets, cut out along the outlines, and then coated with a clear coat of mod podge for durability.

Flowers were great for mom, but I also did a set of motorcycles for my step-dad. Another time I bought a bunch of different colored apples, and photographed them all from the same angle, and made an adorable set of magnets for a friend with school-age children. (Gotta display those good grades on the fridge!) If you have kids, try making a set of magnets of just the children's faces and give them to grandma!

If you don't have photos of your own to use, try buying some, for only a few dollars, from istockphoto.com. Apples or fruit are both adorable fridge magnet options. Try a search on the site for whatever strikes your fancy!
