Printable Shrinky Dinks! This is a featured page

So ... I'm obsessed with this new Inkjet shrink film I've discovered (Ink Jet Shrink Film by Grafix). I found this at my local craft store and it works exactly like the Shrinky Dink material I used when I was a kid. But now, the coolest part is the fact that you can print directly onto this media so you shrink pictures, designs, words, whatever you want. It comes in white, clear and matte. I've only used the white so far. I know there are other brands out there too that may have different finishes. I just discovered that the original Shrinky Dink company also makes printable media that you can order online or buy at Michaels.

I started playing with it a few weeks ago and I keep finding different things to do with it. I used some cute iron-on designs from the Activity Center and created a back pack tag for my nephew and a door knob decoration for my niece.

Before I put these in the oven, I cut all the way around the design and made a hole punch at the top. For the Backpack tag I also wrote his name and grade on the back of the design. You'll want to have some parchment paper or vellum on hand so you can cover the media when its in the oven so it doesn't curl and stick to itself.

If you want to use these same designs, before you print make sure you flip the artwork. These designs are reversed since they are created for iron-on transfers so you just need to flip it. To do this, after you download the PDF, click the printer icon and hit the Properties button. Find the Mirror Image button and turn it on.
