sandbox serendipity (my art blog)
I had a silk ribbon kit from bucilla that had the pattern and top clasp for a tiny purse... I inkjet printed the fabric with roses and then silk ribbon embroidered over it. Pearls make up the "handle". A quick project, it was done for the company that made the fabric media back in 2003. I was working their booth at a trade show and needed some examples. I really love combining inkjet printing on fabrics with embroidery. This one was kind of freeform but sometimes I follow the image and embellish it with stitching.... this type of embellishment works well with any kind of photograph or image. The idea is to call attention to one aspect of the image and highlight it with stitching.
