Media used: Inkjet printable clear decals (or window clings depending on brand)
I found this purse in the cosmetics section of Target (Caboodles brand I believe). I loved it so much, I bought one in blue also!
While it was adorable as is, I just needed to jazz it up a bit because that's what I do....
I found a bunch of sushi clip art on a royalty free site and loaded the images onto an 8.5x11" canvas in Adobe Elements. Because I knew I would be printing on a "transparent" media, I upped the saturation levels of the images so they would pop. Fitting them all on one sheet is one of those things I do to conserve materials (sometimes the media can be costly on a per sheet basis). I printed a test sheet on plain white paper and cut the images out. Using temporary adhesive (repositionable double sided tape), I arranged them on the outside of the purse to check size/placement before printing on the decal media.
Once I was satisfied with the images, I printed them on the clear decal sheet and trimmed closely. Be sure to leave a small border around the images to make it easier to peel them from the backing and position them. You can place the images on the outside of the purse or the inside, since it is clear they will show either way. However, if you place them on the interior they will have a slight pink hue (not really noticeable) and will be mirror imaged. This was not an issue with the sushi but would be for anything containing text so you will have to flip the images before printing.
To make it easier to see the images, this photo was taken with white filler paper inside the purse (yes, I know it looks like rice - ha!).
I have also done this with similar shaped bags by the same company (same material, a supple vinyl) and also with the cosmetic "train cases" that are hard, clear plastic. You can apply these decals to mirrors, windows or any smooth surface. Some brands will leave a slight residue if removed so check first before applying to anything valuable. Most times you can remove the residue with a bit of window cleaner or a magic eraser.
