| I'm always looking for new ways to send messages from the kids to their grandparents. We often include pictures with our holiday cards but we wanted to do something a bit different for Valentine's Day. While I was thinking about it, my three-year-old told me that she wished she could send Grammie a hug. That was it! A hug card. Here's how you can make one, too. |
The pictures I took a picture of my daughters holding their arms out (it took a few tries but eventually we got something that would work). I printed the pictures on 8.5 x 11 HP Advanced Paper. Then I cut out around the image. The hearts The next step was to cut out paper hearts. I used two sheets of construction paper for each card. I cut them together, so they would match at the edges. I cut one heart in half up the middle and glued the outside edges to the other heart. It's best to test your folds with the picture in place - you might have to glue a longer edge to get the arms on the heart halves. The finished piece Finally, I folded the heart open and glued the picture across the folds. Once the glue had dried, I let the girls color on the front. When our parents open their Valentine's cards, they'll get a special hug from their grandkids! |
