Slow response Photosmart 7960

Made the mistake of trying refill carts from my local Walgreens and immediately realized they weren't going to work for me and returned them. I installed new genuine HP
carts, but ever since I have experienced a significantly slower response time between sending print command and actual start of printing by the 7960. I've tried a complete reinstallation, but still have the problem. Any ideas on how to correct will be much appreciated.

Hi jpcp1st:
I'm sorry to hear about the issue with your Photosmart 7960. I haven't experienced that problem personally, but I'll certainly ask the experts over here. By chance, have you downloaded the most recent drivers for your printer? HP frequently releases driver updates to help you printer perform its best. See our Everyday Printing section on HP.com for a quick step-by-step on how to check your current drivers and how to download the latest versions here:

Hope this helps while I'm hunting for an answer.

I checked with our team of experts, and they do have some recommendations for your Photosmart 7960 -- and this might help other folks as well. So please bear with me as I try to explain:

First, the slower printing time may be related to what you're printing -- photos, PDFs, and other intricate documents just by the nature of their content are more complex to print than a text-only document.

Secondly, your driver may be out of date, another setting on your computer may need to be optimized for your printing needs, or perhaps the connection between your PC and the 7960 itself may need to be checked.

We want to help you diagnose and resolve the problem as soon as possible, so please check out the following support pages and see if this can get you going in the right direction:

Another good resource our team found was the following user forum with suggested fixes:
