I use printable canvas all the time. Fredrix and HP canvas are my favorites. I've used both 8.5x11" as well as 13x19" canvas. Canvas is a very cool way to print out old photos that have poor quality, as the texture in the canvas tends to be forgiving of the flaws. For example, I took an old photo of my father-in-law with his Belgian work horses (original was 2x3" and enlarged it to 5x7" for a scrapbook page. I first printed it on photo paper, and it looked grainy and pixelated. Then I printed it on canvas, and it looked not only smooth, but like a piece of art. 5  out of 5 found this valuable. It's easy to print on printable canvas using your inkjet printer. Just follow your printer's user guide instructions for loading the canvas in the tray, to ensure that you'll be printing on the right side of the canvas. If you're going to be mounting the canvas to stretcher bars, you need to print the photo at least 1" to 1.5" wider on all sides so that the excess can be wrapped around the bars and stapled to the back. It can get a bit tricky to evenly stretch the canvas, so if you're not comfortable doing that, take it to a photo framing store such as Aaron Brothers or Michaels, and they can do it for you. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Sue, I am very interested in trying this project but when I went to HP and searched canvas I got the place where I send them the picture and they reproduce in (large format) at a larger price than I had wanted.
If one can do it on the printer, how do I find the canvas. I am a little hesitant to put just any canvas in my printer (HP Photosmart 8450)
Thanks for any help

Hi,

I typically use Scrapper's Canvas that can be purchased at scrapbooking stores and sometimes Michaels. Did you check on the HP site for inkjet canvas?
