Digital Photography and the Power to Heal
Nov 6 2007, 5:19 PM EST
For my parents' 25th wedding anniversary, I scanned photos of their life together, from when they first started dating up through all the years that my brother, sister and I spent torturing them. I took those digital images and made a video slide show, which I set to music and burned to DVD. I also gave copies of the DVD to other people in my family. It was a great gift to give, and one that I watched and enjoyed many times, but when my Dad died, it truly became one of my most prized possessions.

When someone you love passes away, it's important to have things that remind you of them, but it's also important to have a way to share that person with others in your life. When I have kids, they won't have the honor of meeting my Dad, but with thanks to this DVD, and countless other photographs, they will know him and see the kind of father and husband he was.
